翻译是另一种写作形式。译者如果把翻译当成写文章，许多问题可以迎刃而解。

上次我们谈到了翻译的语言形式问题，这次我们探讨事实问题。

写文章要保证事实的准确性。如果把翻译当成写作，译者遇到原文事实方面的瑕疵，就需要纠正。可以和作者沟通的，直接沟通解决，或者通过批注说明。另一方面，译文也要避免产生新的事实瑕疵。例如：

例1：

原文：郑和受明朝廷派遣先后7次下南洋。

原译：Zheng He was dispatched 7 times by the Ming emperor to South Ocean.

分析：用单数emperor就错了，要改为emperors，因为郑和最后一次下西洋时，皇帝已经换了。

改译：Zheng He sailed seven times on the orders of the Ming emperors to the countries of “Xi Yang” or the Western Ocean.

例2：

原文：马克波罗不仅是中西文化传承的使者，而且让古老的丝绸之路从中亚延伸至欧洲大陆。

原译：Marco Polo not only served as a transmitter between Chinese and western cultures, but also helped stretch the ancient Silk Road from Central Asia to Continental Europe.

分析：马克波罗到中国来，不过是走过丝绸之路，而不是由他延长了丝绸之路。

改译：Marco Polo was not only an ambassador between Western and Eastern cultures, but also a pioneer on the Silk Road from Europe through Central Asia.
