1.上次我们讲到斜体用于标示书名、刊物名、报纸名，斜体还用于标示电影、电视、音乐、戏剧、长诗、软件等作品名称，举例如下：

(1) Ang Lee's Life of Pi wins four Oscars at 85^th Academy Awards.

该句中的 Life of Pi 用斜体在此表示电影名。李安执导的《少年派的奇幻漂流》这部影片在第85届奥斯卡金像奖中获得四个金像奖。

(2) The television series Friends ended a ten-year run in 2004.

该句中Friends用斜体表示电视名。电视连续剧《老友记》连续走红十年之后于2004年谢幕。

(3) Revolver is the seventh studio album by English rock band the Beatles.

该句中Revolver用斜体在此表示音乐作品名。《左轮手枪》是英国甲壳虫摇滚乐队的第七张录音室专辑。

(4) Oedipus Rex by Sophocles in the fifth century B. C., is possibly the most famous play of the classical period.

该句中Oedipus（/ˈedɪpəs/）Rex 用斜体在此表示戏剧名。《俄狄浦斯王》是公元前五世纪索福克勒斯所作，乃属古希腊罗马时期最有名的戏剧。

(5) Leaves of Grass is probably Whitman's most widely circulated collection of poetry.

该句中Leaves of Grass用斜体在此表示单独成册的诗集名。《草叶集》或许是惠特曼作品中流传最广的诗集。

(6) I have Windows 2007 on my office computer.

该句中Windows 2007用斜体在此表示软件名。我办公室的电脑装的是《Windows 2007》软件。

又如：We need to use Excel in our work.

我们工作中需要用到《Excel》软件。

需提及的是：作品中的章节、短篇故事、诗歌等都不用斜体，只用引号标示，表示它们只是独立出版作品中的一部分。报刊文章、歌曲、电视收音机节目中的一集或片段也只能用引号标示。

“Down the River” is the most interesting chapter in Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire.

2. 斜体还用于标示雕塑、绘画等作品名称

(1) Michelangelo's David is surely one of the world's greatest sculptures.

本句中斜体 David 标示雕像。米开朗基罗的《大卫》无疑是世界上最杰出的雕像之一。

(2) Picasso's Guernica captures the anguish and despair of violence.

本句中斜体 Guernica标示油画。毕加索所作的《格尔尼卡》油画记录了在暴行中的绝望和痛苦。
