State

Definition: The particular condition that someone or something is in at a specific time.

Example: A positive state of mind is also thought to be of great help in protecting against such problems.

Status

Definition: The situation at a particular time during a process.

Example: I want regular reports on our status, and the legions are to be kept on constant alert.

Situation

Definition: A set of circumstances in which one finds oneself; a state of affairs; the location and surroundings of a place

Example: On occasions I've been placed in situations I would consider dangerous.

Rescuing women from dangerous situations might come easy to heroes in a script.

Circumstance

Definition: A fact or condition connected with or relevant to an event or action; one's state of financial or material welfare

Example: His parents have spoken of their concerns about the circumstances of his death.

Despite the general principle excluding liability for omissions, liability may arise in certain exceptional circumstances.

It is on the basis of a family's financial circumstances, and I think that is proper.
