并列结构——比较连接的句子成分

Elements are linked in comparisons

Items that are being compared are linked not by conjunctions but by such words as “like” or “unlike”, “as much as”, “the same as”, “different from”, “greater than” and so on. By definition, elements in a comparison should be parallel logically; otherwise, the comparison is false. [比较成分应该在逻辑上是并行的]

Example:

A: Just like the Crowne Plaza, all rooms feature an electronic door lock, a private safe, two telephones with IDD…[逻辑不通,旅馆无法与房价比较]

B: Like the rooms in the Crowne Plaza, all those in the Holiday Inn feature an electronic door lock, a private safe, two telephones with IDD…

A: She did not like revising as much as translation.

B: She did not like revising as much as translating. [A版本中,as much as的两边一个是动名词,一个是名词,词性不对应]
