Dangling Modifiers - Individual Adjectives

Individual adjectives (独立形容词) in an initial position, ones that are not part of prepositional phrases, can also dangle when they do not modify the subject of the sentence.（如并非介词短语的一部分独立形容词位于句首，并且不修饰句子主语，则此类独立形容词可同样悬垂。）

Example:

原句：Tall and shy, Diana’s stylish gowns were recently auctioned off for $5.7 million.

修改1：The stylish gowns of tall, shy Diana were recently auctioned off for $5.7 million.

修改2：The stylish gowns of Diana, who was tall and shy, were recently auctioned off for $5.7 million.

【分析：tall and shy修饰的是Diana，而非Diana’s stylish gowns，因此逻辑不成立，可以改变句子顺序，或者将形容词放入单独的从属句中。】
