【求疵笔记】英语习惯说成他本人陷人泥中，深达膝盖。Collins English Learner's Dictionary （《柯林斯英语学习词典》）例句：He stood knee-deep in the river.《他站立在齐膝深的河中。）该词典另一例句：We were waist-deep in the river.（我们在水深及腰的河中。）可见不仅膝部，腰部也可以这么表达。另外，英语还有knee-high一说，表示“（野草、庄稼等〉长到膝盖那么高”。The Penguin English Student's Dictionary （《企鹅英语学生词典》〉例句：I've known her since she was knee-high.（她还很矮的时候我就认识她了。）

【求疵笔记】凡是finding（发现），一定是新的，不必再用new、up-to-date之类修饰。我们常常在外商提供的广告、产品目录、使用手册上读到state-of-the-art一词，更不能用来修饰finding。它表示工艺、设备、技术、产品等“已经掌握的，已经发展的，非研究开发阶段的”、字面意思是“已达到艺术境界的”、“是技术和艺术的完美结合”。老外用这个词来表示他的东西是“最先进的、最优良的”，同时又规避了best、most、first之类的违例用语。我们可以学着说state-of-the-art instrument（最先进的仪器），state-of-the-art furniture（最新型的家具），却不可以说state-of-the-art findings（最先进、最新型的发现）。
