关联连词连接的句子成分

The so-called correlative conjunctions are connectives that work together in pairs. The following are the most common:

Both ... and

Either … or

Neither … nor

Not … but

Not only … but also


In these combinations, the first word announces what is coming next: two equivalent terms jointed by a coordinating conjunctions.关联连词连接的句子成分应相同。

Example:

A: The delegates (to a conference on meat production) agreed that these are vital issues for the next century, both for people’s quality of life and for saving the environment. [介词/名词+介词/动名词]

B: The delegates agreed that these are vital issues for the next century, affecting both the quality of people’s lives and the preservation of the environment. [介词短语修饰的两个名词]

A: This will help the authorities set prices that are appropriate not only for their own localities but also in relation to prices throughout the country. (“For x” + “in relation to y”)


B: This will help the authorities set prices that are appropriate not only in relation to their own local conditions but also in relation to prices throughout the country. (“in relation to x” + “in relation to y”)
