Stir up

Definition: To cause an unpleasant emotion or problem to begin or grow.

Example: One of them seems to believe I’m a bigamist and has gone to the trouble to try to stir up trouble for me.

Spark

Definition: If one thing sparks another, the first thing cause the second thing to start happening.

Example: What was it that sparked your interest in motoring.

The proposals are expected to spark heated debate.
Provoke

Definition: To cause a reaction or feeling, especially a sudden one. If you provoke someone, you deliberately annoy them and try to make them behave aggressively. If something provokes a reaction, it causes it.

Example: I provoked him into doing something really stupid.

His election success has provoked a shocked reaction.
Evoke

Definition: To evoke a particular memory, idea, emotion, or response means to cause it to occur.

引起、唤起(感情、记忆或形象)

Example: The pictures had been chosen because they evoked emotion.

Since they are visual memories they may be evoked by specific situations which evoke the memory.
